I’ve dedicated my speaking career to sharing Simple Strategies that help people realize the only thing that matters during our brief lives is seeking, cultivating and living in wellness and happiness.

 

As a 250 lb. high school freshman, I had a near-death experience that forced me to confront the 14 years of poor choices that gave me a 52” waist - but no dates. A midnight epiphany in my ICU bed revealed my Purpose, inspiring me to lose 80 lbs. in six months.

 

In college, I was already working comedy clubs when I won a small fortune on a TV game show. Weeks later, I graduated from UCLA’s School of Communications. I founded the Hollywood branch of Chicago’s Second City comedy theater, voiced dumb-dad Hugh Neutron in an Oscar nominated film & hit TV cartoon and won three Emmy Awards, appearing on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Tracey Takes On… Hosting over 1000 episodes of my own TV series on Fox, Fx, and the Travel Channel led to over a decade creating award winning improvisational comedy sketches on ABC’s Windy City LIVE. I’m lucky to be married to Yeni Alvarez, my amazing Cubana and cohost of A Fork on the Road, the podcast companion to my best selling travel memoir and cook book.
